Missions
Nain Canada
Nain - Labrador and Newfoundland's most Northern Municipality
Since the provincial relocation program in the 1950’s, many communities in Canada’s North have struggled. Nain, Labrador is one such community, and many of its families have experienced the anguish of alcoholism, abuse and suicide. National media have often reported on the desperation in this remote Canadian village, while ignoring the other reality – Nain is a community of beautiful people trying their best to overcome life's challenges.
Years ago God led Ray and Juanita Whalen to move permanently to Nain, after they fell in love with the people during a brief visit. Ever since, their home has been a place of refuge where people can find loving counsel, prayer, and practical help. Ray and Juanita also provide accommodation for visiting missions teams, including youth and young adults from Dominion Outreach Centre.
The Bill Prankard Evangelistic Association partners with the Whalens in many practical ways - by providing monthly financial support, shipping much-needed supplies and clothing for the community, and sending ministry teams from Ottawa. It is our desire to see the people of the North transformed by the glory of God and brought into the glorious hope that only Jesus can give.
You have a part in the ongoing ministry in the North. Your support means that children are fed, families supported in times of need, and whole communities are seeing the Gospel in action!
